These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SongFriend ("the Service," "we," "us," or "our"). By using SongFriend you agree to these Terms.
1. What SongFriend does
SongFriend is a web application that helps users write song lyrics and chord progressions using AI. Output is generated on demand based on inputs you provide.
2. Your account
You may use SongFriend without an account for limited generation. To save songs, refine outputs, or subscribe, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity on your account.
3. Free tier and paid subscriptions
The Free tier allows a limited number of song generations per month. A paid Songwriter subscription unlocks unlimited generations and song refinement. Subscription prices are listed on our pricing page and may change with reasonable notice.
Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain access until then. We do not offer refunds for partial months.
4. Ownership of your songs
You own the lyrics and chord progressions that SongFriend generates for you. You are free to use them for any purpose, including recording, performance, publishing, and commercial release. We claim no rights over your generated output.
You are responsible for ensuring that your inputs (the story, mood tags, and other material you provide to generate songs) do not infringe on anyone else's rights.
5. AI-generated content disclaimer
SongFriend uses third-party AI models to generate output. While we design the system to produce original work, AI models can occasionally produce text that resembles existing material. We do not guarantee that any specific output is free of similarity to existing copyrighted work. You are responsible for reviewing output before commercial use.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use SongFriend to:
- Generate content that is illegal, defamatory, or designed to harass any person.
- Attempt to extract or reproduce copyrighted material from underlying AI models.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or programmatically abuse the service.
- Share your account credentials with others.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. Service availability
We try to keep SongFriend running reliably but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may experience downtime for maintenance, third-party outages, or other reasons. Free tier access may be temporarily throttled if API costs exceed our monthly limits.
8. Limitation of liability
SongFriend is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and limit our total liability to the amount you have paid us in the past twelve months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your saved songs and subscription will be removed; please export anything you wish to keep beforehand.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms over time. Continued use of SongFriend after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. Material changes (such as price increases) will be communicated to active subscribers in advance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
